Our Mission

The mission of Family serve is simple - Share with God’s people who are in need: practice hospitality. - Romans 12:13

Family Serve seeks to demonstrate the basics of living in faith while connecting people with opportunities to serve and grow in the local, national, and international context. We focus on planting seeds of love and faith by helping others with practical needs and building community through lasting personal relationships. We believe the Lord will do the rest.

Who We Are

Serving others is a family value for the McCain Family.  Jennifer and Doug McCain and their family love to serve others and bring "friends and neighbors" along with them. Their efforts have been supported by many generous people over the years and in 2020 they formalized their commitment to serve others by incorporating Family Serve as a  501(c)(3) nonprofit religious organization with a mission to strengthen communities through acts of kindness and faith. Jennifer and Doug McCain lead these efforts as volunteers, ensuring that all donations go directly to community support.

What We Do

This outreach started over fifteen years ago after Hurricane Katrina when we traveled to New Orleans to help victims in many ways, including gutting their houses.  Lunch at “The Spot” in the 9th ward brought us together with Kim Stewart and her family and the Thanksgiving meal was birthed. We work throughout the year to build community in this area of great need.

We have been called to Tecate, Baja California for many years after building homes with Amor Ministries. We hold monthly outreaches for local families to provide food, clothing, and other needed items. We also assist with funds to build homes.

We believe living in community starts at a young age so we love to gather youth in community to grow in relationship with Jesus and learn to serve others.  King’s Daughters is for girls of all ages and we have fun together through many activities including, art, dance, cooking, and whatever interests the group. We learn from the Bible and serve the community.  We meet in person in downtown San Diego and are now reaching girls in Liberia.

We believe food brings us together and sharing strengthens community.  So, we bring food to local neighborhoods in San Diego to share with everyone who can join in. Please contact us for specific dates, times and locations. If you would like to host a food distribution at your church or in your neighborhood, get in touch and we will bring the food to you.
